Tinubu Taps GTB Co-Founder Fola Adeola to Chair Petroleum Reform Taskforce
President Bola Tinubu has set up a Presidential Petroleum Reform and Value Optimisation Taskforce. He appointed Fola Adeola, co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank and chairman of the Fate Foundation, as its leader. The group will work on a time-bound blueprint for structural changes in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The taskforce includes industry experts such as Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Osagie Okunbor, Abubakar Suleiman and others. It will consolidate current reforms, unlock capital and boost Nigeria’s standing as a prime energy investment destination. Three key deliverables are expected: an implementation toolkit for immediate fixes, a capital-acceleration plan to unlock $5–10 billion in liquidity, and a 10-year National Energy Transformation Strategy. The team will report monthly to the President, with interim findings in three months and final recommendations in six.
