Midnight Bandit Raid on Lajinge Community in Sokoto Leaves Six Dead, Five Injured
Six people were killed and five others injured in a fresh bandit attack on Lajinge community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State. Residents say armed men on motorcycles stormed the village around midnight on Wednesday, July 8, and opened fire until about 2:20 a.m. The attackers also rustled livestock but did not abduct anyone. A witness told local media that the assailants shot indiscriminately, killing six residents—including a married woman—and wounding five more. The injured victims are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Those killed have been buried according to Islamic rites. The deceased were identified as Alhaji Dankane S/Ruwa, Samaila Isah Udu, Adare Dansisi Makeri, Danlami Abdulrahama, Maryam Dankane and Hamisu Adamu. The injured include Lawali Danjaji, Sani Ibrahim, Garba Adare Garbobo, Iliya Muntari and Adamu Yarkyeya.
