NDLEA Chief Vows to Intensify Fight Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking in Edo
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa says he is personally leading the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in Edo State. He made the remarks in Benin City at a stakeholder meeting on addressing the state’s drug problems, describing Edo as a major hub for drug cultivation, consumption and transit. Marwa called for a whole-of-society response and reiterated his support for compulsory drug testing for couples intending to marry. He urged government agencies, security services and communities to work together on prevention, enforcement and rehabilitation. Edo’s Drug Control Committee chairperson, Edesili Okpebholo-Anani, said drug abuse is putting pressure on families and communities.
