Defence Minister Says Innocent Coup Plot Suspects Will Be Released After Investigation
Defence Minister Christopher Musa says suspects arrested over the alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu will be released if investigations show they have no case to answer. He said security agencies are taking time to separate those who may have been wrongly linked to the case from those allegedly involved in planning the plot. Musa said only suspects identified as key actors would face prosecution. The Department of State Services and the National Intelligence Agency are continuing their investigations, while some defendants have already been charged in court. The accused persons have pleaded not guilty, and serving officers linked to the case are also facing a General Court Martial. Musa maintained that the alleged coup plot was real and said authorities were still searching for other suspects connected to the investigation.
