Soludo Says He and Peter Obi Remain Friends Despite Political Differences
Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo says he and Peter Obi remain close friends despite backing different political interests. He made the comments in an interview with BBC News Igbo in Awka on 2 November 2026. Soludo said their families are also close. He noted that his wife is Obi’s child’s confirmation godmother, while Obi’s wife is the baptismal godmother of his child. Soludo said Obi supported a different candidate in the Anambra governorship race, but he holds no grudge. He also recalled warning Obi in 2022 that running for president on a third-party platform could split PDP votes and make it easier for Bola Tinubu to win. He added that opposition parties forming a coalition would not automatically guarantee victory over the ruling party.
