VeryDarkMan Defends NBA Invitation, Cites Judges’ Kidnappings and Insecurity
Social media activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has defended his invitation to the Nigerian Bar Association’s 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt. He said he was invited to share his experiences with insecurity and victims of violence, not to teach lawyers about the law. He argued that insecurity affects legal professionals too, noting that judges have reportedly been kidnapped. During a panel on “Unknown Known Gunmen,” he criticised what he described as inadequate media coverage of killings and their aftermath. He also recounted his claimed firsthand experiences at scenes of violence, including the Yelwata attack. VeryDarkMan alleged that the Yelwata violence was a retaliatory attack by Fulani assailants following the killing of a Fulani boy. This claim was presented as his personal account.
