Tinubu Files: Questions Raised Over US Secrecy and Informant Claims

I believe Nigerians should understand that the US legal system operates differently from Nigeria’s. While it has flaws, its transparency and rule-of-law protections are stronger in many respects. The stated argument against releasing the Tinubu-related files is that disclosure could endanger lives, possibly those of informants. I find that explanation plausible, though it has not been proven publicly. My question is who could still face danger more than three decades later. I speculate that the concern may involve people connected to past drug-trafficking investigations, but this remains a personal theory rather than an established fact. I also wonder whether any information from that period could involve influential figures or networks that remain relevant today. The court process should clarify what can legally be disclosed and why.
