‘Free Our Colleagues’: Oyo Teachers Protest After Seven Abducted in Ogbomoso
Teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, took to the streets demanding the release of seven colleagues abducted in a coordinated attack on schools in Oriire. Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed the abductions and the killing of an Islamic Studies teacher. He said security agencies have arrested six suspects and three persons of interest. The governor warned that armed groups displaced by military operations in the North-West are moving southward. He announced plans to work with religious and community leaders alongside security forces to prevent further attacks. Families of the abducted teachers have been assured that every effort is underway to secure their safe return. The number of missing pupils has yet to be confirmed.
