Benue Government Denies Peter Obi Was Blocked From Visiting Yelwata
The Benue State Government has denied Peter Obi’s claim that government-backed thugs prevented him from visiting Yelwata to meet victims of last year’s attacks. Governor Hyacinth Alia’s spokesman, Tersoo Kula, said the government had no knowledge of such an incident and questioned whether Obi was in Makurdi on the day in question. He said the administration would rely on security agencies, not thugs, in handling any security concerns. Kula also said visits by prominent political figures should be coordinated with the police and other security agencies. He urged the Labour Party to address its internal issues in Benue and maintained that the state remains open to peaceful visitors.
