Idoro Youths Build Community Bridge After Five-Year Wait for Government Support

Residents of Idoro village in Ikono Local Government Area say a seasonal stream has long divided their road during the rainy season. The flooding reportedly made it difficult for pupils, traders, motorcycles and vehicles to cross. After waiting for government intervention for about five years, local youths and other residents organised a self-help project. They contributed cash, cement and labour to construct a small culvert bridge, while bricklayers in the village reportedly worked without charge. The new crossing is intended to help children get to school and improve access to the village during rainfall. Community leaders are seeking additional cement and support to reinforce the bridge before heavier rains begin.
