Osibogun Urges Fairer Nigeria-UK Trade Partnership Focused on Local Production
Dr Adekunle Osibogun has called for a more balanced economic partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, built around trade, investment, industrial development and shared prosperity. Speaking at a Nigerian Independence Day event in London, he said Nigeria should move beyond a model that relies mainly on exporting raw materials and importing finished products. He urged greater support for Nigerian businesses processing local resources, manufacturing goods and building brands for domestic and international markets. He added that access to finance, technology and global commercial networks could help create jobs, strengthen local industries and retain more value within Nigeria.
