Uzor Arukwe Explains Why He Is Not an Advocate for Marriage

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe says he has never been an advocate for marriage because he believes women carry a heavier burden in it. Speaking in an interview, he pointed to pregnancy, childbirth and the tradition of women taking their husbands’ surnames as examples of sacrifices women are often expected to make. He also recalled facing pressure to marry from a young age, with people questioning why he was not married at 25 and comparing him with older generations who had children early.
