Uganda Resumes Invictus Games Plans After Palace Clarifies King Charles’ Position
Uganda has resumed preparations for Prince Harry’s Invictus Games after Buckingham Palace clarified that King Charles III does not oppose the country’s participation. Uganda’s military chief, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, had earlier announced a withdrawal, saying the country did not want to appear to act against the King’s wishes. The decision followed controversy around Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Royal Family. Ugandan military spokesperson Chris Magezi said the King’s private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, clarified the Palace’s position in a telephone conversation with Ugandan officials. Uganda’s military team can now continue its preparations for the upcoming Games. The Invictus Games supports wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from participating nations.
