FBI Arrests Suspect Over Alleged Mall of America Attack Plot
US federal authorities have charged 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud over an alleged ISIS-inspired plan to carry out a mass-casualty attack at the Mall of America. Prosecutors allege that he paid $600 to an undercover FBI employee, who he believed was linked to ISIS, for an AK-47 rifle and 200 rounds of ammunition. The FBI said it had monitored him since 2024 and arrested him on October 6, 2026, before the alleged plan could be carried out. Authorities say he allegedly discussed killing between 30 and 60 people.
