Armed Kidnappers Kill One and Abduct Another on Benin–Akure Expressway

Fresh security concerns emerged today, 10th March 2026, after suspected kidnappers attacked travelers on the busy Benin–Akure Expressway. Motorists and commuters were caught off guard along the major highway linking Benin City in Edo State and Akure in Ondo State. The attackers staged an ambush in the early hours. One victim was fatally shot. Another individual was taken away by the kidnappers to an unknown location. A video shared with social media activist D English Alhaji shows the chaos and panic that ensued. The exact whereabouts of the abducted victim remain unknown. Authorities have pledged to intensify security operations along the route. Residents and road users are calling for stronger measures to curb kidnappings and violent attacks on Nigerian highways.
