Four Arrested Over Deadly Ikire Garage Attack That Injured Three Policemen
Osun State Police Command says it has arrested four suspects over the attack on officers at a garage in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area. Two civilians were reportedly killed and three police officers injured during the incident on August 24, 2026. Police said officers responding to a distress call near the Okobo area were attacked by about 30 armed hoodlums. The attackers allegedly seized an AK-47 rifle from the officers and used it to open fire before fleeing. The suspects were arrested after intelligence gathering and technical investigation. Police said an axe was recovered and alleged that the suspects belong to a political thugs' faction. The alleged shooter and the missing rifle have not been recovered, while investigations and efforts to make further arrests continue. The command urged residents to provide credible information that could help prevent crime and bring all those involved to justice.
