May 30 Biafra Heroes Day: Preserving Igbo Memory and Unity
Human rights lawyer and IPOB counsel Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor says the memories of those killed during the Nigerian Civil War remain deeply engraved in the Igbo soul. He urges Ndi Igbo to observe May 30 as a solemn day of remembrance, unity and historical truth. In his reflection titled “Monday Musings: The Approaching Days of Remembrance,” Ejiofor likens this period to a Holy Week of collective mourning. He warns against attempts to distort or minimize the facts that led to conflict and calls on every Igbo son and daughter to defend truth, justice and accountability. Ejiofor stresses that honoring the fallen means rebuilding solidarity, love and communal responsibility. He prays that as the nation remembers the Biafran genocide, Igbo people will emerge with renewed brotherhood and an unbroken bond of shared heritage.
