Transport Firm Alleges ₦1m Extortion After NDLEA Search Finds No Drugs in Lagos
African Eagle Transport has accused NDLEA officers in Lagos of demanding ₦1 million after intercepting and searching one of its trucks on October 13. The company said the truck was carrying customers’ goods and that no illicit substances were found during the search. Representatives of the National Compliance Joint Task Force of Licensed Agents, who said they witnessed the exercise, alleged that the truck was unloaded manually for several hours. They raised concerns that some goods were roughly handled and exposed to rainfall, potentially causing losses for customers. The company said the incident was part of repeated interceptions affecting its operations. The alleged payment, the handling of the goods and the reason for the truck’s detention require independent verification. NDLEA’s Lagos command has been asked to respond to the allegations and clarify the procedure followed.
