Family Tragedies Shock Enugu’s Igbo-Etiti Communities
Communities in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State were thrown into grief after two separate family killings on May 15, 2026. In Nkporogwu Ukehe, a 40-year-old man allegedly used a cutlass to behead his 60-year-old mother. Villagers on the scene tried to lynch the suspect before police rescued him. Minutes later in Agu-Ekwegbe, another man is accused of hacking his sister and her young daughter to death. Residents again mobilised and beat the suspect until officers arrived. The Enugu State Police Command confirmed both incidents in a statement. Preliminary investigations hint at ritual motives. The State Commissioner of Police condemned the killings and urged citizens to hand suspects over to legal authorities.
