Umahi Dares Peter Obi to Public Debate Over 'Bad Road' Campaign Photo

Umahi Dares Peter Obi to Public Debate Over 'Bad Road' Campaign Photo

Works Minister David Umahi has challenged former Anambra Governor Peter Obi to a public debate on road infrastructure. He criticised Obi for sharing a photo of a damaged highway section during his campaign and said he is ready to break down the costs of concrete and other construction details. Umahi made the remarks while commissioning the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Borno Superhighway in Nasarawa State. He also outlined plans to extend the route through Yobe, Gombe and Maiduguri, and highlighted President Tinubu’s broader legacy road projects across the South-West and South-East. President Bola Tinubu praised the Akwanga–Maiduguri Superhighway, explaining that its five sections span a total of 700 kilometres across five North-East states. He noted that each section is part of a coordinated effort to connect communities along one of the country’s key inland passages.

It's interesting that Umahi wants to break down concrete costs after this single campaign photo; sounds more like showmanship.

Honestly, a public debate might become a staged performance rather than a meaningful policy discussion.

If they agree to debate, voters should review both men's track records and cost estimates before picking a side.
