Isa El-Buba Explains Why He Withdrew Support for Peter Obi
Plateau-based cleric Isa El-Buba says he withdrew his support for Peter Obi because he believes the former Anambra State governor lacks the courage required of a national leader. El-Buba supported Obi during the 2023 presidential election and helped mobilise support for his Labour Party campaign. He said he still considers Obi a good person but believes he has weaknesses that make continued support difficult. Speaking on a current-affairs podcast, El-Buba said leaders must be willing to take difficult decisions and face criticism on behalf of those they lead. He said he has instead shifted his support to SDP presidential hopeful Adewale Adebayo ahead of 2027.
