PDP Rift Deepens as Makinde Backs Wike Reconciliation and Gov Bala Says No
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP Board of Trustees have endorsed a Court of Appeal–backed plan to reconcile with Nyesom Wike’s camp. The decision followed an expanded BoT meeting in Abuja, where leaders agreed to pursue an out-of-court settlement of the party’s leadership feud. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, rejected the reconciliation initiative. He insisted he cannot work with the Wike-aligned faction despite the court’s invitation to negotiate. The Court of Appeal struck down the PDP’s 2025 convention over constitutional breaches and urged parties to seek peace ahead of 2027. In response, the BoT has formed a committee to draft a settlement agreement. Both camps say they want genuine, transparent talks to restore unity before the next general elections.
