Miss Jamaica Contestant Sues Miss Universe Over Stage Fall and Brain Injuries

Dr. Gabrielle Henry, who represented Jamaica at Miss Universe 2025, has sued the Miss Universe Organisation and other parties over a stage fall that left her with serious and lasting injuries. Henry alleges that intense lighting obscured an unmarked, uncovered opening at the edge of the stage during preliminary rounds in November 2025. She says there were no barriers, warning signs or adequate safety measures despite concerns raised by contestants. According to the lawsuit, Henry lost consciousness after falling about five feet onto concrete and lighting equipment. She suffered traumatic brain injuries, brain bleeding, facial injuries, a fracture, collapsed lungs and ongoing memory problems. Henry says the injuries disrupted her medical residency and created uncertainty about her future career in ophthalmology. The Miss Universe Organisation had earlier said it accepted responsibility for the incident and paid her medical expenses.
