300-Level FUOYE Student Killed as Truck Crashes Into Home in Aramoko-Ekiti
On March 26, 2026, a heavy-duty truck veered off the road at Oke-Ila, Aramoko-Ekiti, and slammed into a building. Inside, 21-year-old Promise Farotimi, a 300-level Building Technology student at FUOYE, was asleep. He died instantly. His father, Mr. Rufus Farotimi, described the loss as devastating. “I have lost my son and my home,” he said. He called on security agencies to arrest the fleeing driver and urged the company behind the truck to take responsibility. Community leader Mrs. Caroline Ogunleye blamed reckless driving and the poor state of the road. She warned that speeding heavy vehicles on the damaged federal route have caused multiple accidents over the years. Ekiti State police confirmed the case has been transferred to the State Traffic Section for a thorough investigation. Residents and the victim’s family are calling for urgent road repairs and stricter safety measures.
