Edo Tanker Explosion Raises Questions About Okpebholo’s Focus on Governance
A tanker explosion in Oluku, Edo State, has reportedly left several people injured, with fears of fatalities. At a time like this, I believe the state government’s first duty should be emergency response, support for victims and a clear assessment of what caused the disaster. There are concerns that the condition of the road may have contributed to the incident. If that is confirmed, the government must explain what has been done to address the danger and prevent further loss of life. The governor should prioritise the safety and welfare of Edo residents over political engagements. Governor Monday Okpebholo was elected to govern Edo State, improve infrastructure and respond urgently when tragedy occurs. Political loyalty and national party activities should not take precedence over accountability to the people of Edo State.
