Apprentice and Friend Arraigned for Murder of Anambra Businessman and Theft of N8m
The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned two men before the High Court in Onitsha for the murder of Mr. Ikechukwu Simon Nwite and the theft of over eight million naira. The arraignment on March 18 follows a detailed investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department. Police say 21-year-old apprentice Chiemerie Anieke attacked his employer with a pestle after a late-night argument at the Fegge residence. The blow proved fatal. Anieke is also accused of assaulting the victim’s sister, who managed to escape and raise the alarm. The second suspect, 21-year-old Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, allegedly aided the crime by providing a bank account for the fraudulent transfer of funds. Officers have recovered six million naira, which has been tendered as evidence. The police have warned the public that offenders will be tracked down and face justice. The suspects remain in custody as the trial continues.
