Osun Government Warns Oluwo Over Statements That Could Stir Religious Tension
The Osun State Government has cautioned the Oluwo of Iwo over public statements it says could inflame religious and inter-town tensions. It urged him to respect residents’ freedom of religion and avoid attacks on people of other faiths or fellow traditional rulers. The government also called on the monarch to uphold local traditions and comply with chieftaincy laws and State Council of Obas resolutions. It said the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs would monitor compliance, while the State Council of Obas was asked to follow developments in Iwo.
