Police Inspector, 11 Residents Killed in Terror Attacks on Kebbi Riverine Communities
A police inspector and 11 residents were killed in attacks on Karwa, Kestu and Waiwayi communities in the Besse and Shanga riverine areas of Kebbi State, police said. The attacks, which occurred between October 22 and 28, were linked to suspected Lakurawa and Mamudawa terrorists. Residents said homes were burnt, shops were looted and many families fled after gunmen moved through communities along the River Niger. Police said joint security teams repelled some of the attacks and have deployed tactical personnel to the affected areas. Some residents, however, claimed the death toll could be higher and appealed for protection and support for displaced families.
