10 Police Officers Killed as Police Repel Bandit Attack in Kebbi
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has mourned 10 police officers killed during a gun battle with suspected bandits in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The clash occurred around 9:25 a.m. on Monday, August 10, along the Rafin Makuku axis after officers intercepted heavily armed suspects believed to be moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states. Police said 17 suspected bandits were killed and four of their motorcycles destroyed. Two officers were injured, while two civilians also died during the encounter. The remains of the slain officers have been moved to Birnin Kebbi, and additional personnel have been deployed as operations continue to track the fleeing suspects. The IGP described the deaths as a painful loss to the Force and the nation, pledging support for the bereaved families and injured personnel.
