The Brikama Magistrate’s Court in Gambia has sentenced student Fatima Jarju to three years in prison. She was found guilty of attempted murder and causing bodily harm after stabbing her teacher, Mr. Jatta, at Yunus English School on December 10, 2026. Magistrate Peter Adoh Che delivered the verdict on July 9, ending six days of hearings that drew students and teachers from different schools. Jarju was also fined D300,000 for her actions.
