Nigeria Reaffirms SDG Commitment, Calls for Faster Progress Towards 2030

Nigeria has restated its commitment to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals as the world marks 11 years since the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda. The 17 goals cover poverty reduction, health, education, gender equality, jobs, climate action and other development priorities. Nigeria says it has incorporated the goals into national and state planning, using policy modelling, financing and progress-tracking tools. The country has presented Voluntary National Reviews in 2017, 2020 and 2025. Its latest review identified the need for stronger data, targeted investment and more inclusive implementation. With fewer than four years left to the 2030 deadline, the government says it will deepen coordination, rely more on evidence and work with businesses, communities and development partners to deliver results.
