UK Uber Driver Jailed for 16 Years Over Knife-Point Rape of Passenger
An Uber driver in Leicester, England, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after holding a female passenger at knifepoint and forcing her to perform sexual acts. The 33-year-old picked up two women outside a bar late last year. After dropping one friend home, he threatened the other with a knife, ordered her into the front seat and assaulted her before leaving her stranded on a remote country road. Police tracked the suspect using CCTV and ANPR technology and arrested him within an hour. At Leicester Crown Court, he was convicted of rape, sexual assault, possession of a bladed article and threats to kill. He also admitted making indecent images of a child. The court imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order to protect the victim. Detectives gathered extensive forensic evidence and recovered the victim’s DNA.
