Rufai Oseni Says Poverty Rose in Anambra During Peter Obi’s Tenure
ARISE Television presenter Rufai Oseni says National Bureau of Statistics data shows that poverty increased in Anambra State during Peter Obi’s time as governor, rising from the high 40 per cent range to above 50 per cent. He said Obi’s record should be assessed fairly, noting achievements such as Anambra’s improved WAEC ranking while also acknowledging areas where outcomes fell short. Oseni added that poverty rose under several administrations, including in Lagos State. Looking ahead, he said Obi needs to present clearer and more detailed policies on electricity generation, industrialisation, healthcare and fuel-subsidy reform. He questioned how a proposed 10,000 megawatts of power generation would be achieved and linked to productive industries.
