Can a Poor Non-Igbo Man Marry an Igbo Woman?
I recently overheard some friends debating one of them marrying an Igbo woman. He insisted he could provide daily meals, a one-room flat, and build his savings, while they argued that Igbo women expect more financial security, like owning a car within a year. It’s a common stereotype that Igbo women and money go hand in hand, but I’ve also seen Igbo women marry men from other tribes who aren’t wealthy. What have your experiences been? Have you seen poor non-Igbo men successfully marry Igbo women, and what challenges did they face?
