Customs Seizes ₦722m Contraband Truck in Sokoto
The Nigeria Customs Service says it seized a truck carrying contraband with a duty-paid value of about ₦722 million in Sokoto. The items reportedly included bales of used clothing, sacks of used women’s bags, cartons of cigarettes and coffee, as well as unregistered pharmaceutical products. The drugs included quinine, amodiaquine, paracetamol, cold medicines, injections and syrups. Customs officials said the suspects abandoned the truck after noticing they were being trailed. The vehicle was repaired before being moved to Sokoto. The command urged residents to provide information that could help curb smuggling and prevent the circulation of unregistered drugs.
