Sowore Rejects Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, Defends AAC Request to Use Aso Rock
AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says he will not join the Rainbow Coalition linked to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, which is mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. He predicted that the alliance would not survive beyond the election. Sowore said the AAC’s request to use the Presidential Villa for the inauguration of its campaign council should not be seen as support for Tinubu or the coalition. He argued that public facilities should be available to opposition parties on the same basis as they are used by the ruling APC. The AAC has requested approval to hold the event at the Villa on November 11, with about 5,000 participants expected. The party also asked for logistical support, saying equal access to public institutions is necessary for multiparty democracy.
