Anambra High Court Sentences Son to Death for Pushing Father to His Death
A High Court in Awka has convicted Ifeanyi Anizoba Jr. for causing his father’s death during a December 2019 dispute at Nodu Village. Justice Chukwudi Okaa ruled that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant’s actions led to the fatal injury. Court records show the father was pushed into a wall, lost consciousness and was left unattended in a locked room for two days. Neighbours raised the alarm only after an offensive odour prompted them to investigate. Three prosecution witnesses—including a relative, the investigating officer and the medical doctor—testified for the state. The defence called two witnesses and denied responsibility. In his judgment, Justice Okaa held that the evidence supported a conviction and sentenced Ifeanyi Anizoba Jr. to death by hanging.
