Troops Rescue Police Officer and Six Travellers from Kidnappers in Plateau State
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace responded to credible reports of suspected kidnappers near Sopp village in Riyom LGA on July 13 at about 9:30pm. They found a blue Opel Vectra abandoned on the highway and launched a search in nearby bushes. Under sustained pressure, the kidnappers fled into the bush, abandoning their captives. The troops discharged five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the rescue. The seven rescued victims include ASP Babagida Ishaku, Mr Auwulu Haruna, Dung Jerry Dang, Anas Idris, Hussaini Mohammed, Idris Abdullahi and Mrs Kangyang Sunday. They had boarded the vehicle in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, while travelling to Jos. Troops continue routine patrols across Plateau State to safeguard schools, churches and other critical infrastructure as part of sustained security efforts.
