Why Lagos Should Expand LagRide Instead of Relying on Uber and Bolt
I believe Lagos has made visible progress in traffic management, urban development and public safety. However, the state’s transport system still needs reliable options that can serve its growing population. In my experience, Uber and Bolt have declined in service quality. Riders often complain about vehicle mismatches, cancellations, poor vehicle condition, price negotiations outside the app and unprofessional conduct by some drivers. LagRide offers a more regulated alternative. Its branded vehicles, in-car monitoring, GPS tracking and structured driver arrangements can improve accountability and passenger confidence. Drivers also say the service creates income opportunities, although some have raised concerns about daily payment obligations. I urge the Lagos State Government to expand and sustain LagRide. A larger, well-managed fleet could improve urban mobility, create jobs and give residents and visitors a more dependable ride-hailing experience.
