Activists Storm Warri Police Command Demanding Justice for Mene Ogidi
On April 29, 2026, members of the Take-It-Back Movement held a protest at the Warri Area Command in Delta State. They decried the killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi by a police officer in Effurun. According to SaharaReporters, the victim was unarmed, restrained and begging for his life when he was shot at close range by an ASP. Demonstrators described his death as yet another case of unchecked police brutality. The group urged the Inspector-General of Police to order an open investigation and ensure the officer is held accountable. They vowed to sustain their campaign until justice is both served and seen to be served. Video footage shared online shows Ogidi pleading for mercy before he was shot. Witnesses at the command headquarters in Warri watched in horror and continue to demand transparency in the probe.
