Bandit Commander Iliya Mai Rasha Reportedly Killed as Security Forces Repel Katsina Attack
Security forces, local hunters and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps reportedly killed more than 40 bandits during a gun battle in Guga village, Bakori LGA, Katsina State. Iliya Mai Rasha, a bandit commander linked to attacks and kidnappings in Tsafe, Zamfara State, was reportedly among those killed. Sources said over 200 armed bandits took part in the attack after being mobilised by kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki. The joint team repelled the attackers after a prolonged exchange of gunfire. At least eight senior commanders were reportedly killed, while Idi Abasu Aiki was said to have suffered serious gunshot wounds. Five local hunters also lost their lives during the operation. Clearance operations are reportedly continuing across the Katsina-Zamfara axis to recover weapons and track fleeing suspects.
