Niger Court Jails Man Seven Years for Raping Eight-Year-Old Girl

A Niger State High Court in Minna has sentenced 27-year-old Hussaini Suleiman to seven years in prison for raping an eight-year-old girl. The case was referred to the Niger State command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps after the incident was reported on April 16, 2026. Suleiman pleaded guilty when he was arraigned before the court on September 10, 2026. The court consequently convicted and sentenced him to seven years’ imprisonment.
