MOSOP Says Ogoni-Federal Government Dialogue Could Secure Better Deal for Oil Resumption

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People says its ongoing dialogue with the Federal Government could deliver a fair deal for Ogoni communities as discussions around oil resumption continue. MOSOP President Fegalo Nsuke said the talks mark progress after more than 30 years of calls for a peaceful resolution of the Ogoni crisis. He said the group remains optimistic that the process will advance peace, development and community interests. The organisation also said the dialogue rewards non-violent engagement and urged other regions facing conflicts to pursue peaceful solutions. At the meeting, MOSOP elected Chief Nwale Emereonwi as Deputy President, Mr. Kpoobari Gbidum as Assistant Secretary-General, and Gbene Lekue Zini as President of the National Youth Council of Ogoni People.
