He also expects smart robots to begin competing for some physical jobs in construction and hospitality before the end of the decade. Gates is particularly concerned about young people, as entry-level and mid-level roles could shrink while new AI-related jobs demand skills that take years to develop. Although he believes AI can improve healthcare, education, agriculture and public services, he says governments and societies need policies that protect workers and prepare people for the transition.
