Katsina Police Rescue 3-Year-Old, Arrest Suspects Over Child Kidnapping Rackets
Katsina State Police Command says it has rescued a three-year-old boy and arrested suspects linked to an alleged child-kidnapping network targeting children under five for ransom. Police said the investigation began after a father reported that his four-and-a-half-year-old son had been abducted. The kidnappers allegedly demanded ₦5 million before accepting ₦20,000 described as feeding money, paid through POS accounts. Two POS operators were arrested during the investigation. A second report involved a missing three-year-old boy whose abductors allegedly demanded ransom and ₦100,000 as feeding money. Detectives reportedly traced both cases to the same network, arrested a 16-year-old suspect during a sting operation, and rescued the child unharmed. Police said another suspect was arrested at the hideout, while efforts continue to find other alleged accomplices.
