Ibori Mourns Former PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur, Who Died at 90
Former Delta State Governor James Ibori has mourned the death of Bamanga Tukur, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and former governor of old Gongola State. Tukur died at the age of 90 and is expected to be buried in Yola on Sunday. Ibori described him as a patriotic public servant whose experience in politics, business and national affairs would be missed. Tukur also served as Minister of Industries during the military administration of General Sani Abacha. Recalling their political relationship, Ibori said he worked as a local government coordinator in Tukur’s 1992 presidential campaign. He said Tukur supported giving younger Nigerians opportunities in politics and would be missed as the country approaches another general election.
