Imo Police Probe Viral Video Alleging Assault by RRS Officer on Owerri-Orlu Road

The Imo State Police Command says it has opened an investigation after a video circulated online showing an officer allegedly assaulting a man on the Owerri-Orlu Road on October 27, 2026. Police spokesperson ASP Henry Okoye identified the officer as ASP Gabriel Utuh, the team leader of an RRS patrol team deployed on the route. The command said the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and that any officer found culpable will face disciplinary action. The police said the investigation would be impartial and urged the victim to contact the Command’s Complaint Response Unit to assist the inquiry.
