INEC Urged to Explain Reported Voter Register Increase at Okpebholo’s Polling Unit
Questions have been raised over reported changes to the voter register at Governor Monday Okpebholo’s polling unit in Edo State. The unit was said to have had 397 registered voters in 2024 and 4,783 in 2026, an increase of 4,386 voters. Critics have also questioned the governor’s reported projection of delivering between 2.5 million and 3.5 million votes in Edo State, citing past turnout figures. They are asking whether the increase resulted from a registration exercise, boundary changes or another administrative process. The figures alone do not prove wrongdoing or manipulation. However, INEC is being urged to publish verifiable voter-register records and provide a clear explanation to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
