Trump Demands Greenland Takeover, Threatens U.S. Troop Pullout at NATO Summit

During a recent NATO summit in Ankara, U.S. President Donald Trump renewed his call for America to assume control of Greenland. He said the island is crucial amid growing Chinese and Russian activity in the Arctic. Mr. Trump warned that Washington could reconsider its military presence in Europe if NATO allies fail to boost defence spending. Denmark’s prime minister stressed that Greenland’s sovereignty must be respected, and the UK chancellor insisted its future is for Denmark and Greenlanders to decide. Mr. Trump also expressed optimism about ending the war in Ukraine soon after talks with President Putin and ahead of meetings with Ukraine’s leader. His remarks highlight growing tensions over defence commitments and NATO’s direction.
