Woman Killed in Suspected Ambush in Plateau Community
A woman, identified as Mrs Helen John, was killed in Batok 2 Village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack reportedly occurred around 9pm on August 28, 2026. Troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded after receiving reports of sporadic gunfire in the community. Security personnel reportedly found her body after searching the area. Preliminary findings suggest that the attackers may have hidden in a nearby maize farm before attacking her while she carried out household chores. Security forces have intensified patrols and surveillance in the area as efforts continue to identify and arrest those responsible.
